The Future of Internet Finance: Four Important Developments

Abstract: As the "e-rent" Internet loan platform is currently under criminal investigation and some P2P platforms close down or their founders abscond with the money, Internet finance has become a hot topic across China. In this condition, the financial market will be further standardized is an inevitable trend. On August 24, 2016, the CBRC and other four ministries jointly issued the "Interim Measures on Managing Internet Lending Intermediary Agency's Business Activities," marking the long-awaited birth of the first P2P Internet lending business regulation. Internet finance has more than ten kinds of business models, the well-known P2P is only one of them. The four future directions for Internet finance will be universal finance, cross-industry finance, targeted finance and secure finance.
